The Decision
A fictional construction-materials producer has developed a supplementary cementitious additive using a locally available industrial mineral stream. Bench mixes show potential to reduce clinker content in selected concrete applications. Before funding regional field trials, the business must decide whether there is a credible route through performance variability, specifications, plant practice and customer acceptance.

The illustrative programme targets ready-mix applications in a warm, humid region with variable aggregate supply and a fragmented contractor base. The client has laboratory mix data and a preliminary feedstock plan. It does not yet have an agreed trial specification, durability evidence plan, or view of where supply variability could compromise repeatability.
